For several years now Gingerbread World has partnered with Safe in Sussex to create charity gingerbread houses for businesses, community groups, individuals and families around Sussex and beyond. Safe in Sussex carries out vital work supporting victims of domestic abuse, running support groups, a help line and providing refuges across West Sussex.

The charity witnessed a huge increase in calls during the Covid lockdowns and the work has never been more important.

I am proud to create gingerbread house kits which support their work and help raise awareness. The idea of using a house is an appealing one for Safe in Sussex because it represents not just a house but a home, and the home should be a safe haven.

Every year they hold a Gingerbread House Competition which is open to businesses and individuals alike. Below are just some of the amazing houses which have been made in the last few years, all in the aid of this wonderful charity.

If you fancy making house but don’t want to enter the competition you can still order a charity gingerbread house kit to put together at your leisure.

If you’re interested in getting involved get in touch with Deb West, the charity’s phenomenal fundraising officer. You can find out more about the work of Safe in Sussex and how to get involved here and click on the fundraising tab.
